Marposs OptoCloud EDU (Electric Drive Unit) is the latest generation of 3D precision inspection solutions, designed for the Electrical Vehicle Industry and its unprecedented quality assurance processes.
OptoCloud EDU is capable to reconstruct the 3D model of complex and articulated workpieces and to automatically execute measurements and vision inspection tasks.
The 3D reconstruction of complex and structured surfaces is operated through multiple laser heads, which generate the Point Cloud of the part, while the workpiece is quickly rotated by 360°. The Point Clouds is acquired by the different laser heads – taking so advantage of spatial diversification – and then combined into a single 3D reconstruction.
As the final step, Marposs software elaborates the dataset and executes the requested measurements and vision inspection tasks.
Vision systems have a double role:
While the processing units get more and more powerful, the basic limitation of current Vision systems resides in their very small depth of focus (a few dozens of µm or less, depending on the numerical aperture).
Due to this limitation, expensive and complicated Z scanning systems and / or autofocus mechanism are required for viewing samples with larger Z extension and moving samples.
CHROMALINE CAMERA, Chromatic confocal microscopy, is a technology allowing the design of optical systems with a very large depth of focus (up to several mm).

LIGHTMASTER is a multi-channel modular controller for Chromatic Confocal Sensor Heads. LIGHTMASTER has a total capacity of 48 simultaneous measurements thanks to 12 LIGHTSLOT modules with 4 Channels each. LIGHTMASTER is a 19”3U rack with an universal Ethernet GiGE interface compatible with PC or PLC.

Marposs provides complete solutions for battery cells inspection. Thanks to the polyhedric competences made available by the companies of the Group, the cells can be measured to check dimensional characteristic, safety conditions, and electrical functional parameters.
Different customized solutions can be proposed, depending on the type of cells (prismatic, cylindrical or pouch) and the requirements for integration in the manufacturing line.
These machines can be used either for End-of-Line (EOL) testing in battery cells manufacturing, or for Beginning-of-Line (BOL) testing and sorting in module assembly lines. A proper selective assembly strategy of the cells into the module and pack, based on the measured parameters, can guarantee a better balancing and improve the global quality of the product.
